Suitable for beginners.

These little teddies are very easy to make from quite small amounts of yarn, and you can use almost any colour or type of yarn you like. They are made from five rectangles, the ears are formed by tying two corners of the head. You can make lots of different bears just by knitting larger or smaller rectangles and using different types of yarn.

This cute little bear would be a great gift for an adult or for a slightly older child. He has the air of a wise old professor. Both he and his vest are knitted throughout in garter stitch. The advantage of this is that although strictly speaking, there is a right and wrong side of work, it doesn't really matter when all the edges are sewn together.

Old bears have a great charm and are always popular. If you haven't got an old bear, the next best thing is to make one. During his lifetime, Old Ted will have loosened up and lost a few claws.
